National Service Scheme (NSS) is a noble academic extension program envisioned at a national level in all educational institutions of India, with to bring academic institutions closer to society. It is an educational program devised for the development of student personality through community service. The basic concept of the National Service Scheme is to give an extended dimension to Higher Education and orient the students to community service while they are studying. This creates social consciousness among students and establishes a meaningful linkage between the campus and neighboring communities, especially the rural community. The cardinal principle of the program is to organize both students and teachers in social service and get a sense of involvement in the task of national development. The National Service Scheme of Naipunnya Institute of Management and Information Technology has been playing a pivotal role since its inception in forming a well-organised linkage between the campus and our neighbors. NSS at NIMIT has grabbed many honors for its outstanding performance.
