M.A English

The M.A. program in English is awarded on the successful completion of four semesters including an individually supervised thesis in the final semester. MA in English is an amalgamation of ancient and modern English Literature that mainly comprise four primary areas: Poetry, Prose, Drama, and Linguistics. The department combines various methods of teaching, research tools, seminars, and individual mentorship for our students to achieve their research potential. The MA program in English Language and Literature takes students through vital points in literary history and English language and also incorporates courses that deal with literary theory and criticism.  The course is not simply limited to anglophone literature but also deals with Indian authors and Indian language literature, especially in translation. A student who graduates with MA in English Language and Literature is prepared for teaching, law, civil service, and research. Moreover, the best of our students move on to pursue Ph.D. or other research opportunities.
