The Department of Hotel Management organized an Industry Interaction Session in collaboration with Marriotts Group, which was held on 22nd July 2022 between 11:00 am – 2:30 pm for the final year BSc.HM CA and BSc.HM CS students. The Resource Persons for the event was Ms.Venolina Andrews and Mr.Immanuvel .E, Training Manager and L&D Manger Marriotts Group, Kachin. The session aimed at providing a platform for the final year students to have an industry expert session that would help the students get an insight about the Hotel Industry much before they start their training during their Final semester.
The resource persons explained about Courtyard by Marriotts and Port Muziris a tribute Portfolio Hotel, They explained the vast job opportunity under the properties. There was a very informative talk about the latest trends in hotel industry. He emphasised on the importance of ODC, Industrial Exposure Training etc. which will add extra benefit to their profile.
Both the speakers involved the students in Ice breaking sessions with fun filled activities and games. All the students were given opportunity to introduce themselves and talk about their dream and aim in future.
There was an effective and fruitful discussion question and answer session where in the students asked their doubts and queries as to what they are ongoing to face during their Training period and post placements. An active participation and interaction was seen during this session.
There is a vast difference between book and practical’s and the department is tried to have a real time testimonials and talks by highly successful managers of the Hotel industry which has helped the students to understand the Industry better.
