Counselling Center – Pratidhi

The Counseling Center at NIMIT provides professional assistance and guidance to the students in resolving their personal or psychological problems. The counselor, with the help of a class teacher, identifies the needs of every student and offers professional support for anyone dealing with anxiety or stress. The center is also open to any student who seeks help on their own or through teachers, guardians, or parents. The Counselling Center aims at providing a safe and conducive environment for students to share their grievances and upholds the confidentiality of every student. The Center comprises professional and qualified staff in a comfortable environment dealing with mental health problems among young adults. NIMIT has always prioritized the health and well-being of our students and has been hands-on about assisting students facing difficulties. The institute offers a full-time counselor who guides the students as well as addresses their needs. If necessary, parents are also welcome to partake in counseling services offered by the college. Apart from institute counseling, NIMIT offers one-on-one counseling between small groups of students and a mentor appointed by the faculty.  The mentor is available to students throughout the academic year.

Pratidhi-Counselling center : 

Pratidhi center for Happiness and Wellbeing focuses on the mental health and wellbeing of the students. The Center provides professional assistance and guidance to the students in resolving their personal or psychological problems.
The main focus areas are student counselling and parent counselling. The center is also open to any student who seeks help on their own or through teachers, guardians, or parents. The Center aims at providing a safe and conducive environment for students to share their grievances and upholds the confidentiality of every student.
The Center comprises of an experienced college student counselor and a social worker in the campus. Also a team of professional and qualified psychologist’s provides their service alternatively once in every week, dealing with mental health problems among young adults.

Initiatives

Student counseling

The counseling cell initiates mentoring programs for students. The students who need extra care are identified and are given assistance by a counselor. The counselor helps them tackle difficulties through student-centric approaches. A mentoring relationship develops over an extended period, during which a student’s needs and the nature of the relationship tend to change. The nature of a mentoring relationship varies with the level and activities of both student and mentor

SWAS (Service With A Smile)

SWAS or Service With A Smile is a club exclusively developed for the purpose of organizing and coordinating all kinds of social service activities conducted by the Naipunnya family. Naipunnya Institute aims at accomplishing the dual benefit of encouraging students to be social service-minded and thus help society through various activities. All the Outreach and Extension activities of NIMIT are coordinated through the SWAS club.

Calicut University Social Service Programme (CUSSP)

CUSP is a student social service program that has to be completed in 12 days. This has to be completed in 4 semesters, 3 days per semester. For the program, each class has to work with one institution chosen for them assigned by the counseling cell. The class will undertake frequent visits to institutions such as orphanages, and charity homes to spend time with the residents, help them financially or aid them. CUSP encourages students to coordinate seminars on various issues of social relevance. The students also partake in fundraising events for charity and coordinate camps for blood donation, hair donation, etc.
