Chutney Soca 2023: The Nimitian Festival of Literature

The PG Department of English at Naipunnya College, Pongam hosted our annual department literature festival on the 5th and 9th of January 2023. At the 2023 edition of Chutney Soca, 22 competitions were conducted, with more than 200 registrations, and around 15 colleges participated. The inaugural ceremony of Chutney Soca took place at MBA Seminar hall on 6th January, 2023. The chief guest for the day was Fr. Anil Kiliyelikkudy, currently the vicar of Lusie Little Flower Church and former alumnus of the English Department. One Book One Naipunnya

The PG Department of English organized ‘One Book One Naipunnya’ quiz competition to cultivate a reading habit among the students. The title of the book was given and the students were given time to read the book. The book selected for the month of February was Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe. The quiz was conducted on 28th of February, 2023 from 11.35 p.m. to 12.35 p.m. in the seminar hall (MBA Block).

National Conference and Paper Presentation 2023

The PG Department of English, Naipunnya Institute of Management and Information Technology organized a One-day National Conference  on “Regional Modernities: Epistemological Interventions vis-à-vis Cultural Praxes” on 27 February 2023. The Resource Person for the Confe rence  was Dr. Merin Simi Raj, Associate Professor at Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Madras. Rendezvous Literary Talk: Tibetan liberation activist and poet Tenzin Tsundue

International Tibetan Writer , Poet and Activist  Tenzin Tsundue was invited to college by the P.G Dept of English for a rendezvous with the poet on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. The programme was organised in the main block, seminar hall, Nivedika at 9:30 am. The poet read his poem’ When It Rains in Dharamasala’  and inaugurated the event. This particular poem is prescribed by the University of Calicut and included in the curriculum for the BA English undergraduate programme. Fifa Trivia Quiz 2022

The PG Department of English at Naipunnya Institute of Management and Information Technology proudly presents *Fifa World Cup: Trivia Quiz.* The quiz will be held on Tuesday, 20th December at MBA Block Seminar Hall from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Each team must consist of two individuals. A preliminary written test will be conducted to determine four teams who would move on to the final round. All questions would be based on fifa worldcup trivia and football. Students can participate in the quiz with a registration fee of 20 rupees. Peer Teaching

Neha Elizabeth Joseph, from II BA English, PG Department of English presented a session on “How to Write a Research Paper?” for the first BA students on 19th December 2022.
