  • World Social Work Day: Anti-Drug Awareness Class – 18-01-2025
    In observance of World Social Work Day, an anti-drug awareness class was conducted to educate students on the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of preventive measures. The session was led by Mr. Santhosh T K, Excise Preventive Officer, who provided awareness on drug addiction, its social consequences, and strategies for prevention and rehabilitation. The programme highlighted the relevance of social workers in addressing substance abuse issues and emphasized the importance of creating a socially responsible and drug-free community. It enhanced students’ understanding of addiction-related social concerns and strengthened their awareness of community-based prevention initiatives. 

  • World Humanitarian Day: Street Play Performance – 19-08-2025
    In observance of World Humanitarian Day, MSW students conducted a street play performance in the college campus to create awareness about social responsibility, compassion, and humanitarian values. The performance highlighted various social issues and emphasized the importance of collective action, empathy, and community support in addressing societal challenges. The programme demonstrated the relevance of creative and participatory methods in social work practice and encouraged students to use art-based interventions for social awareness and community engagement.

  • International Youth Day: Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond – 12-07-2025

    Organized by the PG Department of Social Work, this programme was conducted to mark International Youth Day, focusing on the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.” Held at the MSW/FT Block, the event encouraged student participation in discussions on sustainable development and youth-led initiatives. It provided a platform for students to understand their role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals and to engage in meaningful social action.

  • Human Rights Day: Seminar on “The Invisible Majority: How Ageism Became the Last Accepted Human Rights Violation” – 10-12-2025

    This seminar, organized in observance of Human Rights Day, focused on the critical issue of ageism as a largely overlooked human rights concern. The session was led by Dr. Praveen G. Pai, Geriatrician & Gerontologist and Public Health Specialist, who provided in-depth insights into the challenges faced by the elderly and the societal attitudes contributing to age-based discrimination. The programme emphasized the relevance of protecting the rights and dignity of older adults in contemporary society and highlighted the importance of inclusive policies and practices. It enhanced participants’ understanding of human rights perspectives in geriatric care and reinforced the need for socially just and equitable interventions in social work practice.
