Bridge Course – Social Work Matters in the 21st Century – 16-07-2025
Conducted for first-year MSW and BSW students, this bridge course focused on the relevance and evolving nature of social work in the contemporary world. The session was handled by Ms. Sona Jacob, School Counsellor, Mar Athanasius International School, Kothamangalam, who provided foundational insights into current social issues, professional roles, and emerging challenges, thereby preparing students for academic and field-based learning in social work.

Interactive Student Session – Awaken the Passion in You – 16-01-2026
This interactive session provided an open platform for students to engage in dialogue, reflection, and motivation. The session was led by Retd. Colonel Victor D. Kuchar, Chief of Field Operations, Directorate of ISR Innovation, The Pentagon, Washington, who inspired students through his experiences, encouraging self-exploration, leadership, and personal growth aligned with professional goals in social work

Outreach Programme – Institution Visit to Daivadan Old Age Home, Malayattoor – 31-07-2025
Conducted as part of community outreach and experiential learning, this institutional visit involved students of BSW and MSW (2025 admission). The programme provided students with first-hand exposure to the living conditions, needs, and psychosocial concerns of the elderly. It helped develop empathy, communication skills, and an understanding of geriatric care, thereby strengthening their practical knowledge in social work intervention and community engagement.

Observation Visit – Open Jail, Nettukatheri and The Dale View, Trivandrum – 19-03-2026 to 21-03-2026
This two-day observation visit for BSW and MSW students provided experiential exposure to institutional functioning and rehabilitative practices in different social care settings. The visit to Open Jail Nettukatheri enabled students to understand correctional administration, rehabilitation approaches, and the role of social work in restorative justice practices. The visit to The Dale View provided insights into psychosocial care, therapeutic interventions, and institutional support systems.

The programme highlighted the importance of field-based learning in developing professional competence, critical observation skills, and a deeper understanding of institutional social work practice. It also enhanced students’ awareness of rehabilitation, mental health care, and human-centered intervention approaches in diverse social settings.
