Department of Commerce : Best Practices
The Department of Commerce has a unique initiative called the Earn & Learn Programme, which combines practical experience with financial education. The programme enables students to earn while developing skills in saving, budgeting, and financial management. Key activities include the Friday Market, Share Trading, DTP Centre, and Peer Teaching.
Through these innovative initiatives, the department transforms theoretical knowledge into practical exposure. The programme not only provides financial support but also equips students with essential life skills, preparing them to become financially responsible and economically independent individuals.
Students organize campus markets where they sell homemade products, agricultural produce, and handmade crafts. They gain practical experience in pricing, marketing, cost control, profit calculation, and customer interaction, strengthening their entrepreneurial skills.
Under supervision, students participate in share trading to understand stock market operations. They learn investment strategies, risk assessment, portfolio management, and market analysis, enhancing analytical and decision-making skills.
Students manage a campus DTP Centre, offering printing and binding services. By handling orders, costs, and accounts, they learn operational management and service entrepreneurship while earning income.
Through peer tutoring in subjects like Accounting, Economics, and Business Studies, students earn remuneration while strengthening their knowledge, communication skills, and confidence.
